Humanodoro is a Pad-based focus system for NFC-capable phones.
In both Phone-Free mode and App Block mode, you choose which apps are blocked for that mode. Phone-Free is the softer ritual: place your phone on the Pad, leave it there, and let the app block the apps from your Phone-Free list while the session runs.
App Block mode is stricter: the apps selected for that mode are blocked when the session starts and stay blocked until the timer ends, or until you intentionally tap the Humanodoro Pad to unblock them early. The goal is intentional phone use, not punishment.
Is the Humanodoro app free?
The companion app is downloadable at no extra app charge, but Humanodoro is not designed as a standalone no-pad app.
To use the Humanodoro focus system you need the Humanodoro Pad and an NFC-capable phone. The Pad starts the NFC ritual, verifies the session, and gives App Block mode its intentional early-unblock action.
If your phone does not support NFC, contact us before buying.
What is the difference between Phone-Free mode and App Block mode?
Both modes use app blocking, and you can choose a separate blocked-app list for each mode.
Phone-Free mode is the softer ritual: your phone rests on the Pad while the apps selected for Phone-Free mode are blocked. Apps outside that mode's block list remain available for intentional use.
App Block mode is stricter: the apps selected for App Block mode are blocked for the timed session. They unblock when the timer ends, or when you intentionally tap the Humanodoro Pad to leave early. Both modes require the Pad and an NFC-capable phone.
Can I use Humanodoro together with other people?
Yes. You can use Humanodoro on your own, or compete with friends.
You can connect with friends and compare progress, streaks, and focus time. For many people, friendly competition is enough to stay motivated and consistent.
Social features are optional, and you can keep your focus practice private if you prefer.
How do streaks and levels work?
You build a streak by completing at least one focus session per day.
Completed sessions build progress inside the app: XP, levels, streaks, and visible progress. These are in-app motivational signals, not cash, discounts, physical giveaways, or other external benefits.
Longer or repeated focus sessions help you progress faster. If you end a session early, including by tapping the Pad to leave App Block mode before the timer is up, you may not earn the full progress for that session.
Which phones is Humanodoro compatible with?
Humanodoro supports NFC-capable phones only.
The app is available for compatible iPhones and Android phones with NFC. Both Phone-Free mode and App Block mode use app blocking, and exact behavior depends on platform permissions: iOS uses Screen Time-style controls, while Android uses Accessibility and background permissions to detect selected blocked apps and show the Humanodoro block overlay.
If your phone does not support NFC, or if you are unsure about your device, contact our support team before buying the Pad.
Install the free app before buying and check the current App Store or Google Play requirements for your exact phone model. NFC alone does not guarantee every feature is supported; the app also needs the permissions required by your platform, and some phone cases can affect NFC.

What is a phone focus pad?
A phone focus pad is a fixed place to park an NFC-capable phone during work, study, meals, sleep preparation, or any moment when you want fewer interruptions. Humanodoro adds the app layer: timed focus sessions, streaks, XP, levels, progress tracking, Phone-Free mode, and App Block mode with separate blocked-app lists.
How is Humanodoro different from an app blocker or screen time limit?
Humanodoro includes app blocking in both focus modes, but pairs it with a physical NFC Pad ritual. Phone-Free mode asks you to place the phone on the Pad while the apps selected for that mode are blocked. App Block mode blocks the apps selected for that stricter mode until the timer ends or you intentionally tap the Humanodoro Pad to unblock them early.
Is the Humanodoro Smart Pad a phone lockbox alternative?
For many people, yes, but it is a softer and more flexible alternative. A lockbox removes access completely. Humanodoro does not lock the whole phone away; it runs timed Pad-based focus sessions and blocks the apps you selected for that mode until the timer ends or, in App Block mode, until you intentionally tap the Pad to exit early.
Does it help with doomscrolling, social media overuse, and compulsive checking?
Humanodoro is built for the moments when you know you should not be scrolling but still reach for the phone. The Pad creates a physical place for your NFC-capable phone, while both focus modes can block the distracting apps you selected for that mode. XP, levels, streaks, and visible progress give you a gamified reason to stay with the focus block. It is not medical treatment, but it can support healthier phone habits.
Is Humanodoro good for students?
Yes. Students can use Humanodoro for study blocks, exam revision, reading sessions, lectures, and homework. The Smart Pad gives the phone a dedicated place away from the notebook or laptop, while the app tracks each study session. Duo and Squad packs also make it easier for study partners or dorm groups to build the habit together.
Is it useful for remote work and deep work?

Which finish should I choose: cork, black, or white?
Choose Cork for the warm version made with cork and plywood. Choose Black or White for the version with a plastic body. The focus system is the same; the choice is about your space, style, and material preference.
Does Humanodoro work without the physical pad?
No. Humanodoro is designed to work with the Humanodoro Pad and an NFC-capable phone. The companion app is part of the Pad experience: Phone-Free mode uses the Pad as the phone's focus place, and App Block mode uses the Pad as the intentional way to unblock selected apps before the timer ends.
Can families, couples, and teams use Humanodoro together?
